The Challenge
As part of an expansion project, Stillwater Mining licensed eRecruit, a new product from Oracle. In the process, Stillwater Mining was required by Oracle to switch from their concurrent based licensing structure to a named user contract. Consequently, the licensing usage restructure increased their JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (E1) support fees to more than six times higher than in previous years. Facing this substantial cost increase prompted Stillwater Mining to seek an alternative support option.
We always get a response from Spinnaker Support within the first 30 minutes and our assigned support team typically already has it resolved. They are more knowledgeable than Oracle Support, and we have complete confidence that our issue will be resolved efficiently every time we make a call to the Spinnaker Support team.

The Approach
Stillwater Mining selected Spinnaker Support over the alternative third-party support provider. Spinnaker Support’s track record of high customer satisfaction, unmatched JD Edwards expertise, attractive risk profile, and unique approach to pricing swayed the decision.
The Solution
Stillwater Mining became a Spinnaker Support customer in early 2016 and have been a highly satisfied customer ever since. Spinnaker Support currently provides JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1 application support, including year-end legislative updates for W2s and 1099s.
The Results
Stillwater Mining and Spinnaker Support have developed a strong, built-to-last partnership. Spinnaker Support’s named team of engineers are now on a first name basis with the customer’s IT department and some of the JDE end users. Stillwater Mining is realizing that Spinnaker Support’s customized fixes are effective and timelier than Oracle’s often invasive, one-for-all ESUs.
Stillwater Mining has also been able to reallocate IT funds and resources to new integration and IT projects, such as OnBase. With over 600 users and more than half accessing JD Edwards E1 remotely, they have built integrations into JDE to boost remote data entry capabilities. Stillwater Mining’s future IT roadmap plans further investment into JD Edwards E1 9.2, to implement innovative enhancements delivered in the latest 9.2 tools release.
